Chicago Aluminum Expandable Side Handle Baton w/ABS Handle :

This 21” Expandable Baton made by Chicago Batons is made from high-grade aluminum. It features an ABS handle and expands by flicking the handle in an outward motion. Locking into place upon extension, it is only retracted by pulling the locking ring in the middle of the baton upwards toward the tip of the baton and, holding the baton vertically with the locking ring engaged, the locking mechanism will release and the shaft will retract into the baton thus closing it. This high impact weapon is a heavier gauge than most traditional friction locking batons and features a textured rubber grip to prevent slippage in adverse conditions.

This model also includes a side handle for increased control and versatility. The baton is not retractable when the side handle is in place. It retracts only when used as a straight baton without the side handle.

Some assembly required. Side handle needs to be screwed on using the tool and hardware included with purchase.

Handle screw prevents closing.

The handle screw prevents the smooth opening and closing of the baton. Best to leave it open. Would not buy again.

Screw ruins it.

I was very excited to add a baton like this to my collection, but after seeing that the screw obstructs the function of the baton I was very disappointed. Don't get me wrong, its a nice baton; but for what I wanted I just didn't get what I expected. It would have been really cool if the screw didn't ruin the look when trying to retract the baton. In my opinion, it makes it look ridiculous so I just ended up removing the handle all together so it can function properly.
