ASP Batons - 16" Friction Loc Expandable Baton:
ASP has defined expandable batons for 30 years. The classic Friction Loc baton is the most widely used police baton. ASP Friction Loc batons are constructed of 4140 steel that is significantly stronger than 4130 steel used by other manufacturers. In most cases, the sound of an ASP baton being deployed is enough of a deterrent.
ASP batons have many options for handles, shafts & accessories.
The DuraTec grip is an injected molded mostly firm textured grip. DuraTec grips are permanently bonded to the baton. Foamed vinyl grips are softer, extremely reliable and also replaceable.
ASP Friction Loc batons are available with an Airweight, Chrome or Black Chrome shaft. Each having its own set of advantages. The Airweight shaft makes deployment faster, resulting in quick response times to any threat. The chrome finish provides a nice look and corrosion resistance. Black Chrome provides a tactical, non-reflective finish.
ASP Friction Loc Batons are impact released, easily retracted by knocking a hard surface. The ASP baton is an Elite Impact weapon, utilized globally by the most advanced Law Enforcement Agencies. With a simple, compact design produced with duty grade materials, this ASP Baton outperforms and outlasts all competitors.

Very impressed with this baton. Well worth the money. Very solid and well built. Quick delivery. Very happy with it!!
Don’t have any real world experience with the 16” asp to share so I cannot comment how effective it would be against real world bad guys. But I can comment on what seems to be a reoccurring complaint in the reviews: the difficulty in retracting the baton after use or expansion. Yes a little difficult to forcibly collapse but I tried it 10 times and when struck against a suitable hard unforgiving surface with sufficient force (and I am not a powerful man) it retracted every time. Twice I had to hit it two times and once it took three strikes. But it never required more then my own arm strength to retract/collapse it. I don’t see this as a design flaw. It should take some effort to close it after use. This assures it will remain in open expanded condition when you need to rely on it. The friction lock may take some force to retract it but I’m sure it was designed to function that way. Just one (not so strong) man’s opinion.
I had lost my original 16" ASP a few years ago and wanted to replace it. I was happy to find that I could still get almost the exact one I had lost. This one is super tight and will need a little breaking in. Overall, I'm very happy with the baton and the quick delivery from Baton Warehouse.
Super Baton!!! Great for those dog walks and personal defence.
